Here are just a few images of what NOT to wear. As you can tell... these clothes are very busy with patterns and colors... it takes away the attention from the face. Patterns such as these are also not timeless.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR….
Just because something is fashionable or trendy does not mean that it is always a good choice for photos. Some trends out there that look great in real life that don't look good in photos are the flowy babydoll shirts and dresses. (They give no shape at all and you will look bigger than you are. Tops with peek-a-boo shoulders are not my favorite in photographs so try to avoid them. Wild patterns and fluorescent colors are NOT a good choice because they will be very distracting.
I know a LOT of you bring bold striped shirts to sessions because in real life it is cool. In photos it is just very very (did I say very?) distracting. It can be appropriate by water for a nautical look but bring smaller softer stripes.
Girls… avoid very short skirts and shorts. You will be very limited in your poses.
Girls… if you are "blessed" and don't want to show cleavage, then don't wear low cut shirts.
IRON your clothes! Don't come to your session and pull them out of a backpack. Wrinkles show in photos.
Wear clothes that flatter your figure. Flowy tops and dresses are adorable but do nothing to give you shape and may make you look larger than you are. (who wants that?) A more fitted top and dress looks the best.
Believe it or not... but sleeves are the best choice. Cap sleeves will make your upper arm look large. Tanks are fine.
